Hisar (the Hissar of early records) is a city in Haryana founded by Firoz Shah Tughlaq on the dry Bagar plain, a walled town with Tughlaq monuments and a British cantonment on the routes toward Rajputana. It was an administrative and route town of the western plain. In the era of the Company's northern posts it served as a district mail town, and its pre-1854 markings record the posts of the Haryana borderland.
