Gopiganj (the Gopeegunge of early records) is a town in Bhadohi district, Uttar Pradesh, a market and carpet-weaving town on the Grand Trunk Road between Allahabad and Banaras. It stood on the great trunk route of the eastern doab. Within the North-Western Provinces it served as a post town, and its pre-1854 markings record the mail of the Banaras road.
