India, Delhi, 1849, "DELHIE/184_ JAN 1/WEIGHT TOLA/FREE" Oval Datestamp (Giles 17, 1996 Supplement). Faint strike in red on back of cover from Lord Dalhousie and signed by him at bottom left, addressed to Col. Low C.B. in "Camp nr. Ulwar, Jaypoor" , faint (presumably) arrival backstamp dated Jan. 5, Very Fine and scarce free frank, contents were likely related to the Second Sikh War which was taking place at this time, James Andrew Broun-Ramsay (or Lord Dalhousie, 1812-60) was the Governor-General of India (1848-56) and an important figure in 19th century British India, this Delhi Free datestamp is the listing example and possibly the only recorded example
