Deeg (the Deig of early records) is a town in the Bharatpur country of eastern Rajasthan, famed for its eighteenth-century Jat palace and water gardens, once a stronghold and pleasure-capital of the Bharatpur rulers. It lay on the routes between Agra and the Rajputana states. In the era of the Company's northern posts it served as a mail town, and its pre-1854 markings trace the posts of the Bharatpur tract.
