Bulandshahr (the Bolundshehur of early records) is a city in the upper Ganges–Yamuna doab of western Uttar Pradesh, headquarters of its district on an old high mound that gave the town its name. It was a market and administrative town on the routes east of Delhi. Within the North-Western Provinces it served as a district post town, and its pre-1854 markings record the mail of the upper doab.
