Description

1814: H.G. 1: The hand-writing of the address is identical to that of a letter of 1813 sent by William Dunn, to his father, through the same forwarding Agent's address, the intaglio "COEL / Post Paid" despatch stamp, used in November, 1814. 3 only being known, two written by William Dunn. On the reverse is the faint manuscript mark "2 Sa. Wt.", for which the double letter rate of postage of 2 Rupees is shown in the "Coel" stamp. Single postage from COEL [ALLYGHUR] to CALCUTTA was 14 As. and 2 as. was the Ship Letter fee.
