Clearly struck in red with manuscript "to Madras" and "24th December 1822" date added on back of folded letter to London, England, framed "INDIA LETTER/DEAL" handstamp (Robertson In. 1), Madras Ship Letter (Dec. 25) transit and London (Apr. 21) arrival datestamps, manuscript "1/1" rate marking, cover with some edgewear and small tear at bottom, Very Fine strike, this example is earlier than what is recorded in Giles (1823-24)
