India, Wallajahabad, 1813, "WALLAJAHBAD/POST PAID" Two-Line Handstamp (Giles 1). Faint but just legible strike with manuscript "30 March 1819" date and rate markings on folded letter to Lisburn, Ireland, sender's directive "for Europe" , Crowned Ship Letter London (May 16) and May 17 transit datestamps, manuscript rate markings corrected three times with "2/1" rate marking applied, cover with some overall soiling, Fine strike of this very rare marking, Giles notes "Rare - 2 examples recorded" and we doubt many more outside of this number exist
