Description

1822 (28 Dec.) entire letter from Vizianagarum. Ganjam district, to Lindsay Esq. (Surgeon), Meerut, Cawnpore, the reverse with octagonal "vizianagm./postpaid" (Giles Type 1) handstamp alongside Calcutta and G.P.O. transit markings. Vertical filing fold otherwise fine and a very well struck example of this rare handstamp, believed to be the earliest of the four recorded.
