India, Seringapatam, 1837, "SERINGAPATA/POST FREE" Oval Handstamp (Giles 6). Mostly complete though slightly watery strike, right side affected by opening, with manuscript "14th September 1837" date added on back of folded cover to Madras, manuscript "Service" and endorsed by Chaplain, Madras (Sept. 18) arrival backstamp, cover with slight overall toning, Fine strike of this scarce marking
