Description
1850 (Nov 14) Concession rate soldier’s entire letter, one flap on reverse missing, from Camp Secunderabad via London to Clonmel, Ireland, with oval “SECUNDERABAD/FREE” dated handstamp in red on back, also struck “2” denoting 2d collected from recipient, transit ds of Madras on back, together with London and Dublin arrival cds. Sent by a sergeant in the 2nd European Light Infantry in Secunderabad and countersigned by a major commanding officer. A very scarce example of the concession unpaid rate.
