An entire letter from Bangalore, the seat of government of Mysore State, written on the 29th February 1848 and addressed to Secunderabad, a British cantonment in the Hyderabad State, six miles from Hyderabad City. The post office despatch stamp, “BANGALORE, date-paid” is the H.G. type 9, in use from 1835-55 and the charge 3As. The handstamp is “SECUNDERABAD – Date – Paid” H.G.2 in use from 1838-58, here used as a receipt stamp. The date would appear to be March 10th.
