Bold and superb strike in red with manuscript "21st September 1826" date and "to Madras As 2" rate added on back of large part of folded outer lettersheet (missing side flaps) to Beddington Corner, England, framed "INDIA LETTER/DEAL" handstamp (Robertson In. 3), Madras Outstation (Sept. 22) transit and London (Mar. 3) arrival backstamps, manuscript "1/" rate marking, cover opened for display and some minor edgewear, Very Fine and choice strike of this scarce marking, this is thought to be the earliest recorded example, ex Manning
