Description

1802: UNRECORDED: A letter from Major Simpson to the Mr. Garrow, Asst. Collect. at MADHURA about supplies of grains to 2nd Regiment Cavalry. Endorsed Service, 27th july 1802 and signature of the Major. This handstamp : Recorded version of H.G.1 of Giles has "h" in PALAMCOTAH in lower case, where as this handstamp is having it in capital letter. This may be due to assigning the job to unskilled and less educated workers. The same thing also happened at other places like, CAWNPore etc. Giles recorded H.G.1 as used in 1788 and that to a Solitary example. This with different version of spelling is used in 1802.
