Description

India, Nowgaum, 1841, "NOWGAUM/Bearing" Framed Handstamp (Giles 2). Exceptionally well-struck with manuscript "16 May 1841" date and "12 as" rate markings on back of folded letter to Kotirgherry, red Madras G.P.O. (May 24) transit and "KOTIRGHERY/Bearing" framed handstamp (Giles 2) with manuscript "28 May 41" date added, small piece missing from opening (just affecting frame of Nowgaum marking), Very Fine, both the Nowgaum and Kotirghery markings are quite scarce, even more so together on one cover
