Nirmal (recorded as Neermul) is a town in northern Telangana, headquarters of Nirmal district, known for its lacquered Nirmal paintings and toys and for its old fort on the Deccan uplands. It lay on the routes between the Godavari country and Berar. Its pre-1854 postal markings document the overland mail of the northern Deccan borderland.
