Narayanpet (the Narainpett of early records) is a town in Telangana, headquarters of Narayanpet district near the Karnataka border, long celebrated for its distinctive handloom sarees. It lay in the Deccan borderland between the Nizam's dominions and the Bombay districts. As a post town of the region its pre-1854 markings trace the overland mail of the western Telangana Deccan.
