Description

India (French Settlement), Karical, 1846, "KARICAL/Paid" Framed Handstamp (Giles 1). Bold strike in red with manuscript "1st Feby 50" date and "P as 1" rate added on back of large part of folded cover (completely silked, missing top flap) to Mayaveram, clear strike of red "MAYAVERAM/Paid" (Feb. 2, Giles unrecorded) arrival backstamp, couple insect holes, about Fine, despite the obvious silking to prevent further damage to the cover, this is a very scarce use of the Karical marking with an unrecorded arrival postal marking
