Description

1835: H.G.2: Letter posted from OOTACAMUND [15 Sept.] to MADRAS [29 Sept.]. In fact the endorsement on the cover says, its a service letter, however, it was treated as bearing postage & evidently it was held by the Post Office until the postage was paid, when it was endorsed "Postage Remitted, P.M.G." on front-side, and handed over to the addressee. The letter must have had a bulky enclosure, as double postage was due amounting to Re. 1 as.2.
