1845: Entire letter from Karikal to Paris endorsed "Par Bombay, Suez, Alexandrie & Marseille", struck on despatch with fine framed "KARICAL / 19 January 45 / Paid" handstamp in red with rate "8 As. Steam Postage / 5 As. to Bombay" inserted. Circular "INDES OR. / MARSEILLE" entry marking in red (March 3) and rated '20' décimes due to pay.
