The Hurryhur HG 2 handstamp
Hurryhur (Harihar), in the Davangere taluk of Chitaldroog District, Mysore, is situated 14°31' N and 75°48' £, on the Tungabhadra river. It was held by the Marathas until it was taken by Haidar Ali in 1763, and after the defeat of Tippoo Sultan, it was occupied by a Native Regiment of the Company, until 1865, in a cantonment.
