Darampoory
Dharmapuri, formerly Darampoory, is a town in northern Tamil Nadu on the Thoppaiyar river, headquarters of Dharmapuri district in the hilly Kongu–Baramahal borderland. Long a route town between the Mysore plateau and the Tamil plains, it was administered under the Madras Presidency. Its pre-1854 handstamps trace the Company's overland mail through the Baramahal passes.
