Description
1838 (April 5): Entire letter to London endorsed "P.P." at top, struck on despatch by framed "CUDDAPAH / Paid / As. 7" datestamp in black (April 5), superb strike of oval framed "OUT STATION / MADRAS / SHIP LETTER" in black (April 7). Landed with framed "INDIA LETTER / SOUTHAMPTON" in red (Robertson In. 2) and London arrival (Oct 2). A fresh and very fine entire. Note: The letter is from one William Howell serving as a Missionary in Cuddapah on behalf of the London Missionary Society, detailing his expenses for the first quarter of 1838.
