Chittapore
Chitapur (the Chittapore of early records) is a town in Kalaburagi (Gulbarga) district, northern Karnataka, on the Deccan plateau. A taluk headquarters set among the black-soil plains, it lay within the tract administered under the Bombay Presidency. As a mofussil post office it carried the inland mail of the Gulbarga country, and its pre-1854 covers document the overland posts of the northern Karnataka Deccan.
