Avanashy
Avinashi (the Avanashy of early records) is a town, now part of the Tiruppur urban area in Tamil Nadu, celebrated for its ancient Avinashiappar temple. It stood on the road between Coimbatore and Erode in the Kongu country. Under the Madras Presidency it served as a mofussil post office, and pre-1854 covers bearing its mark trace the overland mail of the western Tamil uplands.
