Waghorn Sidebottom 12

Sidebottom 12, like its neighbour, is a marking unrecorded by Sidebottom but listed by Smith. It is known from 1839, with a recorded strike in February of that year, again placing it firmly in the agency's most active years on the overland route.

Recorded in black and carried here as Smith 12, it is one of the additions that filled out the picture of Waghorn's markings after the first catalogue was compiled. Marks in this group tend to be scarcer and their histories thinner, so the covers recorded in this census are an important part of establishing how and when the mark was actually used.
