Description
Burma The "Bearing" and "Paid" Datestamps Ramree 1837 (30 Aug.) entire via Akyab to Major Dickinson at Calcutta showing on reverse a light strike of the framed ramree/paid (Type PS1) and a neat of the akyab/paid both overstruck by various Calcutta h.s. Upon arrival Major Dickinson had left Calcutta , the entire endorsed Passenger per 'Scotia' Cape of Good Hope and with crowned oval general post office/cape of good hope handstamp on the front. The interesting contents include "...I don't know what they will do with Kyouk Phyoo, if we were sure of peace it would doubtless be abandoned. But what a risk of war before our eyes it must I imagine be maintained for it's central position and harbour..."
