1840 (Dec 30) Poonah (Pune)–London, England letter sent overland via Marseille to bankers Drummonds & Co., with tripartite rectangular Giles 9 POONAH Paid mark dt. 183 December 30 (3rd digit year slug not replaced with 4) in red with 1A in ms indicating the internal postage to Bombay (Mumbai), elliptical Giles SD7 (ex-BX3) INDIA mark of Bombay (Mumbai), 3/6 in ms in black, comprising 1s10d Br. packet rate+1s8d Fr. rate for a single sheet of paper/weighing between 7.09gm (¼oz) & 14.18gm (½oz) for being carried entirely by Br. packets & London cds dt. 8 FE 8 1841 in red. Carried by British Royal Navy paddle sloop HMS Victoria.
