1853 : H.G. 1 : Nassick [presently spelled as "Nasik"] is 107 miles from Bombay being the headquarter of Nasik District, Bombay Presidency. It is ranked amongst the most sacred place for Hindu Pilgrimage. On rise of Maratha Power, Nasik was chosen by the Peshwa as one of their capitals, the city comes under British empire in 1880 after the defeat of Maratha's in third war.
