India, Malwan, 1844, "MALWAN/Paid" Framed Handstamp (Giles Unrecorded). Clear strike in red with manuscript "9 May 1844" date and "4 A" rate added on back of cover to Corfu, Ionian Islands, sender's directive "via Suez & Alexandria" , red framed "INDIA PAID" and "Forwarded by R. Duckworth & Co. Malta" forwarder's handstamps, manuscript "5" and red "11" rate markings, Very Fine, an exceptional destination for any 19th century cover from India, particularly so with an unrecorded postal marking from a small town such as Malwan
