1849 : H.G.1 : Letter from MAHABLESHWUR to NEWPORT - ISLE-of WEIGHT, dated 15th February via MARCELLE. Postage prepaid 2 annas and was rated 2/10 MAHABLESHWUR, a hill station in SATARA District was established by Sir John Malcolm, Governor of BOMBAY, in 1828, as a sanitarium, had a very small population, and very few letters from the period 1820-60 have been found.
