Description

Tipperah: 1817 (3 June) entire letter to Calcutta, the reverse showing very fine strike of the rare double-line framed "TIPPERAH/Sa. Wt./P. Pd." (HG 2) completed in manuscript, red oval Calcutta arrival datestamp adjacent; fine. Very few examples known. Interesting content with reference to impending conflict with the Burmans who were threatening to invade the area. Photo.
