Description

India, Patna, 1834, "PATNA/BEARING/18__" Framed Handstamp (Giles 8). Fair strike with manuscript "11 Feby 35" date added and applied in transit on cover originating in England, addressed to Patna via Calcutta, forwarded to Allahabad, sender's directive "p Larkins" , sent via "Thos Haviside & Co." forwarders with faint strike of framed handstamp, "KEDGREE/POST OFFICE/SHIP LETTER" handstamp (Giles S2) and Calcutta Ship Letter handstamps, the latter rated the cover 11a (3a ship letter fee and 8a inland to Patna), red Calcutta (Feb. 7) backstamp, finally rated "1-1" (1r1a) which was the original 11a plus an additional 6a to Allahabad, cover with some edgewear and overall aging, Fine and interesting use
