Naraingunge (Narayanganj) is in the Dacca Division of Bengal, situated on the left bank of the Sitalakhya River, about 10 miles south-east of Dacca. It was the principal river port of Eastern Bengal and a major centre for the jute trade.
Naraingunge HG 1 is a pre-1854 handstruck postal marking of the post office at Naraingunge — the present-day Narayanganj — in the Bengal Presidency, British India, recorded in use 1855.
