1850s correspondence of lengthy entires from Calcutta to Newcastle- Upon-Tyne, all endorsed “Per overland mail/ via Southampton”, five bear framed red INDIA/PAID handstamps, the other twelve with framed red INDIA handstamps denoting unpaid and with relevant manuscript rates, one of these with handstamp variety ‘INDI’ without final ‘A’, (two black ink smudges) all with red framed G.P.O. handstamps and arrival cancels in black, blue or red; good to fine condition (17).
