Date
19 October 1835
Description
The cover below, dated 1835, shows a further stamp KEDGREE/POST OFFICE with the same spelling, but without a surrounding oval frame, and it appears to be in rather a worn state, as though it had been in use for some years. Perhaps i this was issued soon after 1829, the last known date d'its predecessor. This cover was despatched from Calcutta under the stamp "G. P.O./OCTr/Pt. Pd" the postage of 3 annas having been prepaid to Kedgree. On arrival at the latter place the KEDGREE POST OFFICE mark was applied as a receipt stamp.
