1822 Entire letter written from "EAST INDIA COMPANY SHIP DUCHESS OF ATHOLL LEAVING BENGAL ON HER VOYAGE TO PENANG + CHINA". WE HAVE 38 IN THE SICK BAY + HAVE LOST 3 MEN WITH THE CHOLERA MORBUS". "OUR SURGEON WE ARE AFRAID IS ON HIS DEATH BED". Added to on Monday, 16 September "WE WERE DETAINED ON ACCOUNT OF SOME BLUNDERS OF THE PURSER WITH SIGNATURES REQUIRED TO SOME PAPERS. HOWEVER WE HAVE GOT A FAIR BREEZE + SHALL GO AWAY TODAY. THE POOR DOCTOR DIED, YOUR BROTHER HENRY ISAACSON". 2 Calcutta G.P.O. marks. Also an oval mark with manuscript date of the 17th,(Kedgeree ?).
