India, Gowalpara, 1839, "GOALPARAH/Paid" Framed Handstamp (Giles 2). Clear strike in red with manuscript "10 May 39" date and "9as" rate markings on back of folded letter to Captain Ouseley in Calcutta, framed "AM" handstamp, red Calcutta G.P.O. (May 12) arrival datestamp, minor opening tear just affecting Calcutta datestamp, Very Fine, the marking offered here is what was used for the tracing in the Giles catalogue
