1836 Glenageary – Dum Dum service entire via Cape & Calcutta route, with Glenageary "PAID/SE 1 A/1836" despatch, London "A/PAID/3 SE 3/1836" receipt & "PAID SHIP LETTER/[crown]/3 SE 3/1836/LONDON" transit applied, red "1" indicating 1s (comprising 2d outward sea postage & 10d single letter inland to London) paid by sender. Upon reaching Calcutta via Cape route, Giles G13 "GPO/JAN 24/1837" receipt applied, primarily addressed to Agra, redirected to Meerutt & returned back to Calcutta. Giles G13 "GPO/JAN 29/1837" receipt mark applied, then sent to Dum Dum & there Giles 2 "DUM DUM/POST OFFICE" dated "29 Jany 1837" applied. 2A import sea postage + 3A inland to Calcutta + 11A inland to Meerutt + 2A inland to Dum Dum, total 1R2A, should have been collected from the recipient, but as the recipient was a soldier in the Bengal Artillery, he was exempted from the bearing postage.
