Folded letter written from Chandernagor by a missionary to Quintin, red “Pays d’Outremer par” two-line handstamp and manuscript ”Pauillac” ship name added with ”First Ship” noted at top right, entering the mails with red Calcutta Ship Letter Sep. 30, 1839 boxed despatch datestamp, Quintin (Apr. 25) arrival backstamp, originally rated ”10” and rerated to ”8”, minor edgewear, still Very Fine, a very early and impressive cover originating in Chandernagor, very few Europeans were located in this village at this point in time
