The Buxar HG 1A handstamp
Buxar is situated in Shahabad District, Bengal, 25°34' N and 83°58' E, on the south bank of the Ganges River, 406 miles from Calcutta. It is famous for the defeat here of Mir Kasim by Sir Hector Munro, in the battle which finally won the Lower Provinces of Bengal in 1764.
